Eskom have announced that stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented from 4pm today until 5am on Wednesday morning to replenish the emergency generation reserves, which they say have been utilised extensively over the past three weeks.

The utility said breakdowns were currently at 15 360MW of capacity, while another 1 580MW was unavailable due to planned maintenance.

A generation unit each at Kusile and Arnot had returned to service but this was not sufficient to eliminate loadshedding for the rest of the week, according to Eskom.
