Eskom announces stage 2 load-shedding until Sunday
Wed, 9 June 2021 – Staff Writer
Due to the continued delays in returning generation units to service at Kusile, Tutuka, Duvha, Kendal and Koeberg Power Stations, Eskom have announced that stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented from 10am on Wednesday morning until 10pm on Sunday night.
Eskom said breakdowns were currently at 13 752MW of capacity, while another 1 273MW was unavailable due to planned maintenance.
The capacity constraints are expected to continue for the foreseeable future according to the utility, which urged South Africans to reduce their electricity use particularly between 5pm and 10pm at night when the winter demand is the highest.
