Eskom extends stage 2 load-shedding until Saturday
Tue, 26 October 2021 – Staff Writer
Eskom announced that stage 2 load-shedding would be extended again, starting from 9am on Tuesday and continuing until 5am on Saturday.
The utility said delays in returning units to service have exacerbated the capacity constraints, hampering the ability to replenish emergency generation reserves.
An early morning statement said they expect five other units to be returned to service during the week, but a number of generation units were running with a risk of failure and could not be attended to due to capacity constraints.
Breakdowns were stated to be at 13 333MW of capacity, while another 5 548MW was apparently unavailable due to planned maintenance.
