Eskom moves to stage 4 load-shedding on Monday as units come back online
Mon, 24 February 2025

Load-shedding was reduced to Stage 4 from in the early hours of Monday morning following the recovery of five units at Majuba power station, two units at Camden, and one unit at Medupi.
Eskom had implemented stage 6 load-shedding without warning in the early hours of Sunday morning due to multiple unit trips at Camden Power Station, following more than 20 days of uninterrupted electricity supply.
By late on Sunday eight out of the ten generation units that had tripped on the weekend were back online, according to the state-owned power utility.
“The return of these units comes after identifying the root causes of multiple unit trips, which were unconnected and purely technical in nature, related to electrical and control system issues in auxiliary parts of these power stations”, Eskom said.
Besides the unplanned outages, more than 7 500MW of power was offline this weekend due to planned maintenance.
