New COVID-19 regulations to apply to all .za websites
Fri, 27 March 2020
The Department of Communications and digital technologies has approved new directions relating to South African broadcasters, ISPs and websites as part of the plan to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
According to the regulations, all Internet sites operating within the .zaDNA top-level domain must have a landing page with a visible link to www.sacoronavirus.co.za. Registrations under the .za space include more than one million co.za, org.za and gov.za websites.
The directions, which cover a wide range of communication-related areas, also require various communication service providers to remove fake news related to COVID-19 from their platforms immediately after identifying this information.
