Elephant seal disrupts traffic in Gordon's Bay on Tuesday

Law enforcement and local security companies were on the scene quickly and closed the road to traffic.
The City of Cape Town's Game Capture unit and the the SPCA were on site when myDorpie.com arrived at the scene, along with many locals.
According to sources the plan was to try to get the animal into a trailer without drugging it if possible.
A local resident who assisted with the rescue efforts told myDorpie.com that it was a young elephant seal.
UPDATE: By late in the afternoon the seal had been safely transported to Koggel Bay where his recovery from sedation was monitored and he eventually went for a swim.
