Cinemas closed and restaurant trading restricted but beaches remain open

The government have published amended level 4 lockdown regulations that will prohibit various activities and trading until 11 July 2021.
A further amendment was published in the gazette on 30 June which increased the permitted capacity of accommodation establishments from 50% to 100%, as well allowing the transport of liquor from licensed premises for storage.

The regulation amendments state that the following places or premises normally open to the public or where people may gather are closed:
- gyms and fitness centres;
- flea markets;
- fêtes and bazaars;
- night clubs;
- casinos;
- taverns and shebeens, except for sales for takeaways and deliveries of food and non-alcoholic beverages;
- restaurants, except for sales for takeaways and deliveries of food and non-alcoholic beverages; conferencing, exhibitions and entertainment facilities;
- theatres and cinemas;
- museums, libraries, archives and galleries;
- older persons’ residential facilities for visits
Beaches and public spaces will remain open but no gatherings are allowed at these locations.
A curfew will be imposed from 9pm to 4am every day, except for people with a permit to perform a service not restricted in the regulations, or if dealing with a security or medical emergency or for medical treatment.
Travel for leisure to and from Gauteng is prohibited, but permitted for transit through the province as well as for a number of reasons such as caring for a family member. Travel between other provinces is permitted.
Travel to and from an airport for a flight that requires travel during restricted hours is permitted, with proof of flight details.
Hotels, resorts, lodges and guest houses are allowed to operate 100% of rooms [updated 30 June], and in-house catering facilities may only sell food and non-alcoholic beverages for room service or off-site consumption.
Schools and institutions of higher education will be closed for contact classes from Wednesday 30 June 2021. Early childhood development centres however will not be closed.
Land borders that are currently open will remain so according to the regulations.
