President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the government will ease restrictions on restaurants for sit-down dining, accommodation and conference facilities, cinemas and theatres, casinos, hairdressers and beauty services, and sport.

Ramaphosa said during his address that specific and stringent safety requirements have been agreed on and will need to be put in place before a business can re-open, and protocols will need to be strictly adhered to for businesses to remain open.

The president said the details would be announced soon, along with the dates from when they will apply.
