Google confirms indexing bug affecting newly published content

A post on Google's search status dashboard warns of an ongoing issue that is delaying the indexing of newly published content.
The company said in a post just before 5pm Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) that they were working on identifying the root cause of the problem.
The dashboard post said the issue, which affects Google Search, began on Thursday at 1:40pm PDT.
The issue appears to coincide with Google's announcement of a core update for October, but there is not indication from the company of whether the two matters are related.
UPDATE: At 11:29 PDT Google posted an update on their search status dashboard to say the issue had been resolved. According to the update, the issue lasted from 10:30am PDT until 4:20pm PDT.
