First possible snow for 2020
Mon, 28 February 2020 - Staff Writer
The first snow of 2020 may fall on the high-peaks of the central and southern Drakensberg tonight, according to SnowReportSA – South Africa's leading snow forecaster.

The data suggests that the freezing level may drop just enough to deposit a few centimetres of snow on the highest peaks in the Lesotho Drakensberg tonight.

SnowReportSA has been watching the data for over a week now and we’ve seen enough consistency to suggest that the snow event may happen, but if the freezing level is only slightly higher than expected it will just result in rain.

No low-level snow is expected, and the freezing level is not expected to be low enough for snow at the top of Sani Pass.
