Sun, 31 May 2020 - Staff Writer
Open access parks such as Golden Gate National Park, Table Mountain National Park and parts of the Garden Route National Park will allow access to visitors from 1 June 2020, according to a statement by SANParks.
The clarification by SanParks follows Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane's announcement on Saturday evening that hiking would be allowed during alert level 3, as long as it was not in groups.
SanParks have said that Boulders Beach, Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope), Silvermine Gate 1 and 2, Upper Tokai & all picnic sites will remain closed until further notice. MTO Trails has also announced that Jonkershoek will be open from 1 June.
The alert level 3 regulations, which come into effect on 1 June, allow for exercise between 6am and 6pm.
The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries is expected to release a statement regarding the opening of the other parks.
