Strong earthquake early Sunday near Johannesburg

A strong earthquake occurred in Boksburg outside Johannesburg in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to the Council for Geoscience (CGS) which rated the quake as a magnitude 4.4 in a press statement on Sunday morning.
The earthquake seems to have occurred around 2:38am South African standard time on Sunday morning.
The CGS is the custodian of the South African National Seismograph Network, which monitors seismic wave activities throughout the country.
The epicentre of the quake was at 26.328°S 28.139°E according to the USGS National Earthquake Information Center which called the quake a magnitude 5.0.
